These are the precedent images for my animation. Three environments are all created by paper, where I started thinking the environment might suit for my paper made character. Besides, the transition between my character world and real world is the color, so I might only use white in my character's world.
Origin of the character and personality Three objects Material: Paper plane Motion: Chinese fan Meaning: USB drive My character is based on the shape of the kitten but is made of the paper. She can fly and float in the sky by adjusting her tail, which is inspired by Chinese fan. For my story, I came up with a curious paper kitten burst into the real world from her paper-made world. Finally she came back to her own world with the colors from the real world, and the colors dyed her world colorful. That’s why I chose USB as my character meaning. Her personality would definitely be curiosity. Her curiosity drove her into the real world and started the story after.
I created a paper world in maya for my character's environment

Storyboard
My story is about a paper cat from her paper world came into real world due to her curiosity. She happened to fall into a garden full of flowers, and she got dyed with the colours she had touched. She finally came back to her paper world and pass the real world colours into hers.
My first concept is based on "For the Love of God", which inspired me of that we are not seeing every object as its nature, because we are normally misled by what it looks like. Therefore, I came up with this idea, which we take for granted for its transparent form without thinking of what is actually inside. I gradually reveal my object inward looking by object's own transformation, and try to narrate the truth of nature.
László Moholy-Nagy
Concept 2 is also referred to nature-to-face, what happen in lower sphere actually reflects to upper sphere, which means the smaller is determined the bigger. In other words, what we can see is only the reflection and shadow of the nature. However, when the surface is carrying on too much, it sometimes would refuse to respond to the original, then ends up as revenge. Damien Hirst
Concept 3 is about expansion. The core object absorbs every smaller object all around in order to meet up its desire of expanding. It constantly draws everything could reach and never feels satisfaction. Eventually, it is over burdened and ends up with explosion.
